WAGS Game 8:  The  Elite played LMVSA and found some real tough competition. LMVSA came to play and the Elite girls did not show up.  You have to give LMVSA tremendous credit and playing intense soccer to keep the score low and then finally tying it with 3 minutes to play in the game. Final score 1-1.  Next up the Potomac Memorial Day Tournament.

WAGS Game 7:  The  Elite played SYA Arsenal, the B team from SYA U11 program,  and for the third game played with one or zero subs.  The Arsenal were really no match for the play of the Elite. Score ended up 9-0. Next game is the LMVSA Patriots.

WAGS Game 6: The  Elite played Sterling Courage.  The Elite girls came to play knowing it could be a tough game but  the game again was completely dominated by the  Elite. It was a team effort that was really nice to watch. Even though the Sterling Courage had won the last four games by a margin of 24-1 in goals,  they were no match  for the Elite today. The girls played there A game and came away with a 6-0 victory. It was just a tremendous effort by all the girls.

WAGS Game 5: The  Elite played Arlington Explosion White  The game again was completely dominated by the  Elite, but it certainly was not a very well played game by the Elite. Came away with a 7-0 victory knowing they would have to play a lot better tomorrow against the Sterling Courage who had won last four games.

WAGS Game 4: The  Elite played McLean MPS Breakers.  The game again was completely dominated by the  Elite but when you have trouble finding the goal and have a great goalie against you, anything can happen.  At the end of the first half it was 0-0 and the way things were going it could have easily ended that way.  Moving more attackers up and allowing the normal defenders to play offense, the  Elite punished the goal area and drilled in four goals. Final score 4-0.  Next up for the  Elite are Arlington Blue and always tough Sterling Courage.

WAGS Game 3: The  Elite played vastly improved CYA Phoenix.  The game was completely dominated by the  Elite with the play in their offensive 1/3 most of the game. The defense stepped up big allowing one shot only that went over the goal. Was the first loss of the season for the Phoenix. Next up for the  Elite the McLean Breakers, U11 B team.

WAGS Game 2: The  Elite played VYS Phoenix Pride. It was obvious from the start that the Pride were going to have a tremendous problem keeping up with the  Elite girls.  The  Elite dominated the game again from start to finish, playing minutes under the “headers only” rule for goals in first and second half.  Next up for the  Elite, ARL Explosion White on Saturday 4/22 and CYA Phoenix on Sunday 4/23.

WAGS Game 1: The  Elite played CUGI Calciomania 94, a brand new team from Fairfax. The  Elite dominated the game from start to finish, playing more than thirteen minutes under the “headers only” rule for goals.  Two goals were actually scored by headers. CUGI Calciomania 94 is a very nice team with a coach that obviously really cares about his girls and puts a lot time into their development - the  Elite wish them well the rest of the season. Next up for the  Elite, ARL Explosion White on Saturday and VYS Phoenix Pride on Sunday.

Spring 2006 Season and future tournaments: The  Elite will now start their WAGS league play. They will play 9 league games against Northern Virginia teams. The  Elite have entered the Memorial Day Columbia Invitation, Columbia, Md. and will play their first tournament in the 11v11 format. It will be a tremendous challenge for the  Elite girls with teams like Bethesda Thunder (probably the top team in Maryland, and they have already played in three 11v11 tournaments), Baltimore Bays (recently won the Baltimore March Madness 11v11 tournament), and the Deep Run Charge, Deep Run, Pa. (just won the Championship in the 11v11 Jefferson Cup). It will be a great opportunity for the girls since they will go to 11v11 at the U12 age level. First WAGS game this Sunday vs. CUGI Calciomania 94.

2006 March Jefferson Cup: The  Elite traveled to Richmond to play in the prestigious Jefferson Cup. Placed in the top Championship Bracket, the  Elite were excited about the chances to play some of the top teams on the East Coast like CASL Red, CASL Black and Charlotte Breakers.   On Saturday, the  Elite played fellow Ashburn team from ASC and won easily 8-0. In the afternoon, the  Elite played the top team from the Richmond area, the Richmond Kickers Premier. The Kickers were ready this weekend, but the  Elite prevailed with a hard fought 2-1 victory. On Sunday morning the  Elite learned that to win the Championship they would have to beat two CASL teams back-to-back.   First up was the CASL Red. This was the  Elite's finest moment in the tourney, playing one of their best games of the year, and ending in a 3-0 victory. The Charlotte Breakers were eliminated from the finals because of a tie breaker rule (CASL Black had scored 10 goals to the Breakers 9).  So the finals were set against a very strong and technically proficient CASL Black. Score at half was 0-0 and it looked like overtime was coming. But with 10 minutes left in the 2nd half, the Black scored from the right side of the goalie box and the score was 1-0. With the  Elite now pushing up the entire team to create more chances, the Black defense held and the score ended 1-0. It was a tremendous tournament for the  Elite and many lessons were learned. Next up - WAGS League schedule.

2006 March Big Toe IcebreakerTournament: The  Elite traveled to the Big Toe Chesterfield Icebreaker Tournament.   This tournament provided a chance to play the Richmond Kickers Premier, one of the top teams in Virginia.    The first game was against a strong team from Charlottesville, Va - SOCA Express. The score at half-time was 0-0, but the  Elite wore them down and scored 3 goals in the second half. The second game Saturday was against the A team from Richmond Strikers. The Wambaugh played tough defense and again the score was 0-0 at half- time.  The  Elite turned it up in the second half and scored 4 goals. On Sunday morning the  Elite played a strong team from CASL.  In the first two minutes the  Elite had an open goal and a breakaway but couldn't find the net. The CASL goalie was one of the most skillful goalies the  Elite have ever come up against. She repeatedly stopped the  Elite shots and then punted the ball 75% down the field. Finally a shot was blasted to upper left corner and the score ended 1-0 for the  Elite. The Championship table was set and the  Elite got their wish.  The Richmond Kickers breezed through their first three games and thus were in the final. The  Elite scored four quick goals in the first half and the game ended 5-2, giving the  Elite the Championship.  Next up is the Frederick ScrimmageFest against the top teams in Maryland and then onto the Jefferson Cup.

Elite win Championship Bethesda Thanksgiving Tourney

Elite Finalist in Prestigious Raleigh CASL Shootout

Elite Win Championship at MSI Congressional Cup by Shooting the Moon.

Elite finish 1st U12 Indoor : The  Elite girls, playing up in the U12 Indoor Soccer at the Dulles SportsPlex, finished in 1st place with a 6-0 record.  Of the 10 teams playing in the two U12 Divisions, the  Elite was the only undefeated team. Next up in the Championship is a game against the U12 McLean Fusion who are looking for revenge, since the  Elite beat them in the first game 6-3.

2005 Bethesda Thanksgiving Tournament: The  Elite traveled to the Polo Grounds in Maryland to play in the Bethesda Tourney. The  Elite opened with two fairly easy games and coasted to 4-0 and 7-1 wins over PWSI Courage '94 White and Bethesda Storm. On Sunday the  Elite met a determined Chantilly Hotspur Red. Even though the  Elite dominated the game and had many many shots to the Red's zero shots, the  Elite only could find the net twice for a 2-0 victory. The Championship game found the  Elite playing the other half of the Chantilly SC, the Hotspur White. It was a tremendous game with both teams playing very hard.  The  Elite came away with a hard earned victory 1-0 to take the Championship.

This ended the  Elite Fall season with a 23-2 record. Great job by the girls, parents and coaches.

Raleigh CASL Shootout: The  Elite traveled to Raleigh North Carolina to play in the CASL Shootout.  Elite opened with hard fought battle against Servena Park  Elite, Md. The game was close for most of the first half and then the  Elite scored off a header from a corner kick and there was no turning back from there. Two more goals were scored from crosses and  Elite ended up 3-0 winners.

Game two was against one of North Carolinas stronger teams OCSA Coastal Crew, NC. Coaching staff knew it would be a battle since OCSA had played all three CASL U11 teams to a tie in the last two weeks. (Quite a feat considering these CASL teams were all in the finals of each of their Shootout divisions). The competition was tremendous and even though the  Elite were ahead 1-0 at half time you see the Coastal team starting to come on. In the second half OCSA scored two quick goals and  Elite found themselves facing their first deficit of the year. With 12 minutes left in the game the score was 2-1 favor OCSA. The  Elite picked up the pace, not giving up and scored two quick goals off of crosses and held on for a tremendous comeback win 3-2.

Game three found the  Elite playing W_S Twins White, NC. The Twins play in the Premier U11 Western Division and were in second place with a 9-1 record. With only defeat coming from the Charlotte Breakers. The game was again a battle, with the score 0-0 at half. The  Elite made a few changes and ended up scoring off a cross and came away 1-0 victors.

The Championship game was against a very strong NC team, CASL Spartan  Elite Black. It was a tremendous game with each team battling trying to figure out how to score. Very intense high pressure game with both teams only getting a few chances.  The game ended in a tie 0-0 which meant overtime had to be played. The teams took the field to play two 5 minute overtimes. With one minute left in first overtime the Casl defender banged a ball from 40 yds out and it floated over the  Elite goalies head. It was a very tough way for the  Elite to lose such a tremendous soccer game. The tournament was great and the competition was awesome and that is why the  Elite traveled to Raleigh.

WAGS Game 9, 10-30-05: The  Elite played their ninth and final game of the WAGS season against the Ashburn Soccer Club Premier Xtreme.   The  Elite dominated play,  giving up only one shot and coming away with a 4-0 victory.  This ended the WAGS season 9-0 and now the  Elite prepare for CASL tourney in North Carolina and Thanksgiving Bethesda Tourney in Maryland

WAGS Game 8, 10-29-05: The  Elite played their eight WAGS game against Chantilly Firecats. The Firecats were undefeated in WAGS play and had dominated their competition. The  Elite came to play and completely controlled the play giving up only three shots and coming away with a 4-0 victory.

WAGS Game 7, 10-16-05: After traveling to Baltimore on Saturday to play three high-end Maryland teams in a 'friendly scrimmage round-robin', the  Elite came out slow in first half of Sundays WAGS league game scoring two goals but exploded in the second half with 7 goals. They have made headers part of their attack and again came away with two headers making sixth game in a row with goal by head.

WAGS Game 6, 10-02-05: The  Elite played their sixth WAGS game against Chantilly Hotspurs Red. The  Elite came away with a 5-0 win and are preparing  for the highly rated WAGS tournament.

WAGS Game 5, 10-01-05: The  Elite played their fifth WAGS game against VYS Phoenix Pride. The Pride "taking pride" in their defense held the  Elite to 0 goals first half even with disparity of 15-0 shots on goal. The second half the  Elite took charge scoring 6 goals for a 6-0 win. Fifth game in a row the  Elite scoring one or more goals with their heads.

WAGS Game 4, 9-25-05: The  Elite played their fourth WAGS game against Reston Wildfire. Score 10-0. Season record 11-1.

WAGS Game 3, 9-18-05: The  Elite played their third WAGS game against Lee Mount Vernon (LMVSA) B team. The LMVSA girls played very well the first 15 minutes against the  Elite but with continuous pressure by the  Elite the game soon got out of hand.  With 5 minutes left in first half the  Elite were up by 6-0 and went into a passing game till half. The second half the  Elite were given the restriction they could only score by the head or volley. Four goals were scored the second half, the first by a volley and the next three by a headers. With 10 minutes left in the game the  Elite went to a passing game and took no shots on goal. The LMVSA girls never gave up and should be commended for a great effort. But it is WAGS games like this that do not help either team develop.

WAGS Game 2, 9-11-05: The  Elite played their second WAGS game against an under matched DCST team. The  Elite came away with an 8-1 victory. The girls played well and are starting to jell as a team.  Both wins over the weekend were truly a team effort with all the girls playing multiple positions and each game using 5 goalies.

WAGS Game 1, 9-10-05: The  Elite played their first WAGS game against the McLean Power.  It was obvious the Power under their new head coach, Jamil Faryadi, were vastly improved and would require a strong team effort by the  Elite girls. The  Elite rose to the occasion and came away with a 5-0 victory. It was a well played game enjoyed by parents and players alike. Ali Queen of the Power broke her foot during the match and will miss at least a month of soccer. We wish her well.

Sep 3-4 MSI Congressional Cup: The  Elite traveled to Maryland Soccerplex for their first opportunity to play on their magnificent grass fields.  The first game was against an extremely talented Westminster Wolves, Carroll County, Maryland. The Wolves were well coached and had great ball skills. With a tenacious defense and winning most 50-50 balls, the  Elite wore them down and ended up with a hard fought 4-0 victory. The next two games against Maryland teams MSC Strikers and Thunder United,  were dominated by the  Elite. In the finals, the  Elite were faced with another excellent opponent from Pa., the Moon Tigers from Western Pa. It was a hard fought game with the score only 2-0 at half time.  The  Elite dominated the Moon Tigers for most of the game allowing maybe 2 shots on goal in the complete game. The Moon Tigers played excellent defense but the  Elite found the goal 2 more times winning the championship 4-0. Its now WAGS time with two games this coming weekend.

August 27-28 Washington Fall Classic The  Elite traveled to Maryland to open their season. The first three games were blowouts against the Freedom Fighters 6-0,  the Calvert Explosion 9-0 and the Olney Crossfire 14-0. Even playing under  the restriction of scoring by head or volley the goals kept coming. The  Elite were the talk of the tournament. The  Elite's reputation preceded them on the playing field, but it proved no guarantee in game four. Semi-final opponent was the always tough Bethesda Thunder. During the first half the  Elite dominated the game with a furious barrage of shots on goal but just could not find the net. The Thunder had at most 3 shots.  The second half evened off somewhat but still neither team could score. With the end of regulation tied 0-0, the teams entered two 5 minute Golden Goal extra periods. With both teams already having played three games, the heat in the 90's, it really came down to determination and resiliency and who could out last whom. Both teams stood tall and the game went to Penalty Kicks. The Thunder won the PK's 2-1 giving them a 1-0 semi-final victory. The  Elite played with tremendous heart. After playing four games and holding the opponents to zero goals, it was difficult for the girls to accept the fact they were not in the final. So now its back to the practice field to prepare for the Congressional Cup at the Maryland SoccerPlex. Lets hope Katrina allows the girls play.

Summer of Soccer:  The  Elite girls played in the WAGS Festival and three small sided tournaments during the summer. One or more of the  Elite girls, during the summer, attended various training camps to keep sharp. Some of these were 5 three hour sessions of LYSA 1v1 & footskills training, 5 three hour sessions of LYSA Striker & Goalie training, Moravek Soccer School, Linhart Golden Boot (Art of Scoring), training by Soccer Performance for footskills,  one girl attended U13 team camp with her sister and ending with the girls going to a six day team camp at Foxcroft. The girls are now anxious and ready to join WAGS.

Aug 6th - Aug 7th: After a very tiring week at team camp the  Elite woke up the next morning and found themselves in the Regional 3v3 Championship at the Maryland Sportsplex. The girls played two games on Saturday and five games on Sunday.  They reached the championship game against PDA from New Jersey. They lost that game but qualified for national 3v3 Championship in January against teams from all over United States. Up next ,regular season practice starts, getting ready for two tournaments -Washington Falls Classic and MSI Congressional Cup and then on to there WAGS schedule.

July 31- Aug 5th:  Elite traveled to Foxcroft for their first over night team camp.  The camp was run by Soccer Academy and the girls were trained all week by Paul Ellis. It was quite an experience for the girls. The girls would get up for breakfast at 7:30a.m. and start training around 8:30a.m. each morning. Training was 2 - 3 hrs in the morning. The girls would then get two hour break for lunch and start up training in the afternoon for two hours. Each day the girls went to the pool at 4pm, dinner at 5pm and played a match against a different team each evening. Highlight of the matches was the game against the U13 WAGS Div 3 Stafford Extreme where the girls played 11v11 without a sub and held there own but lost 2-1. It was a great team bonding week and soccer experience for the  Elite girls.

July 16th:  Elite played in the Splashdown 4v4 tournament.  The  Elite were split into two even teams and played in two separate brackets. Each team were champions in there brackets. Most fun for the girls was going to the water Park after the games.

July 9th & 10th:  Elite played in the SYSA 4v4 tournament.  The  Elite were split into two even teams. Assistant Coach Mike Benitez coached one team and won 2 and tied one to get into the finals. Coach Kevin coached the other team and the won three getting into the finals. Coach Mike and Coach Kevin sat on the sidelines for the final while two team moms took over coaching the two  Elite teams.  During the pre-game warm-ups the girls were kidding around and just excited to have their moms coaching and getting the chance to play each other.  When the whistle blew the fun was over and the competitiveness took over. Everyone enjoyed the game and all the  Elite players were winners.

June 5th: ODSL Game 8: The  Elite played Chantilly White at Franklin Glen Park.  It was not one of the best games for the  Elite but you have to give the White some credit for that. For the first time this ODSL season the  Elite found themselves down 1-0 in score very early in the first half.  The  Elite woke up in the latter part of the 1st half and slipped a goal in to tie the score. The second half was dominated by  the  Elite with multiple opportunities to score.  Elite did find the goal three more times and ended up a 4-1 winner and clinching the Northern Virginia ODSL Championship. What a tremendous season for the girls playing in a very competitive Division I. Next up for the  Elite---WAGS!!!!.

May 28th-29th: FC Delco Memorial Day Tourney: The  Elite traveled to Pennsylvania to play in the prestigious FC Delco Memorial Day Tourney.  The FC Delco tourney is a Platinum rated tourney, which is the second highest rating a tournament can have in US. The  Elite started off against the Levittown United, Division I team from Long Island, New York.  Elite came out strong and easily defeated Levittown 6-1. Next on schedule was Spirit United Frenzy who play in PAGS (Philadelphia Area Girls Soccer) Division I.   Elite had difficulty finding the goal but still came away with a 3-1 victory. On Sunday the  Elite prepared for their two biggest games. First game was against powerhouse Deep Run Charge who also plays in PAGS.  It was an extremely physical game with the Charge finding the goal with a 40 yd shot with the wind and a miscue by the defense that slipped under the goalie and tapped in by the Charge. The  Elite kept attacking and had many opportunities, hitting the post twice, going over the goal multiple times but could only find the net once for a 2-1 loss to the Charge. The  Elite had to win the final game to have a chance to advance to the finals. The 4th game was against Council Rock Force, the Pa. U10 State Cup champs, a team that tied Deep Run in first round, and a team that has played up all spring in a 11v11 U11 Division. It would also be an emotional game for the  Elite girls since a former favorite player of the  Elite who recently moved, now played on Council Rock. The  Elite and Council Rock girls socialized for two days at the hotel before Sundays games. The parents of the  Elite and Council Rock had gotten to know each other also so it was obvious a game many would rather have not played. The  Elite came out to play, Council Rock certainly did not show up with their A game, resulting in the  Elite controlling the game from start to finish and ending up 5-0 winners, giving them 3-1-0 record and 29 points. Now the  Elite had to wait to see if Deep Run won their last game. Deep Run won 4-2 which gave them a 3-0-1 record and 31 points, enough to advance to the finals. Deep Run won the finals against PDA 3-0. It was a tremendous tournament for the  Elite. The tournament provided high level competition which will benefit and enhance the development of the girls.

May 15th: ODSL Game 7: The  Elite played a home game vs sister team  Wave. It was an enjoyable game for the girls who all know each other. Both teams played hard and only the experience and speed of the  Elite helped them to a 6-0 victory.  The victory moved the  Elite into sole possession of 1st place in ODSL Division I.

May 8th: ODSL Game 6: The  Elite played a home game vs the SWYA Power . This was the second week in a row, going back over two years,    Elite girls were playing a team for the first time.   SWYA had played four games and had given up only 2 goals. For the first five minutes it was obvious the speed the Power had on defense. Gradually the  Elite figured out how to penetrate the defense and the shots were numerous.  At the 7 minute mark the  Elite took over and ended up scoring three goals in the first half. With a tremendous defensive effort by the whole team, especially Brittany, Taylor and Megan (Speedy), the Power had very few shots and the  Elite topped off the scoring effort with four more goals. It was nice to see the girls executing wall passes, 1-2 combinations and many thru-balls resulting in numerous scoring opportunities. Next week is sister team  Wave.

May 1st: ODSL Game 5: The  Elite traveled to McLean for the first time to play the McLean Premier Soccer (MPS) girls U10 A team . Going back two years it was the first time the  Elite girls had a chance to meet the McLean Power who are trained by MYS Technical Director and U.S. Men's National Assistant Coach Curt Onalfo and his staff.  Expecting a tough game, the  Elite girls came out and played their style of attacking the goal with a 'short passing game', playing the ball wide, switching the play and short penetration passes resulting in numerous shots on goal. The  Elite completely dominated the game with the McLean Power having trouble getting ball over midfield.  Elite using three goalies and a pressing defense held the Power without a shot for 60 minutes. Game ended 5-0 for  Elite, the first time the Power have not scored on a team this year. Next game will be against the SWYA  Power A team, another club the  Elite have never played in three years of play on the grass.

April 24th: ODSL Game 4: The  Elite played Chantilly Hotspurs Red at Franklin Glen Park.  It was a very physical game but the  Elite playing good defense and excellent goalie play by Taylor pushed to an easy 4-0 lead at half-time. The  Elite then became complacent and settled  for that score even though they had ample opportunities to increase the score. Of course the Hotspurs had a lot to do with it playing tough defense in the second half. Game ended 4-0 for  Elite. Next game will be against the McLean Power, McLeans' U10 A team.  It will be the first time the  Elite meet the Power on the outside grass.

April 17th: ODSL Game 3: The  Elite played VSA Heat at Long Park. Always one of the  Elite's competitive games the first half saw each team play an intense even game with score 1-1. The second half saw the  Elite control the game more with some excellent chances to score but couldn't find the net.  With both teams playing their hearts out and never giving up, score ended up 1-1.

April 16th: ODSL Game 2: The  Elite played an extremely tough and well coached Sterling Courage at Lucketts. The  Elite controlled the tempo of the game with numerous shots and good defense and came away with a 3-0 victory.

April 10th: ODSL Game 1: The  Elite played a very nice MCSA team from Prince William County. The  Elite controlled the game throughout but only could muster three goals even though they had 15 corner kicks and 20 shots to their one. It was a typical team effort by all the girls.  Elite play Sterling Courage and VSA Heat next weekend.

Congratulations to the  Elite U10 girls, parents and coaches for winning the Fall 2004 Sportsmanship Award!. Each season the coaches in the ODSL vote for a team in their division which exhibits the best sportsmanship. In addition to the coaches votes, sportsmanship points are averaged from each referee report card. Also, points are subtracted for yellow and red cards accumulated during the season. The prestigious award is named after Randy Rawls, one of the leagues original founders and its first President. The award honors the winner's sense of fair play, something for which Randy was renowned as he sought to bring soccer to the youth of Northern Virginia. Randy has since retired to Florida where he authors detective mystery books.

March 26th: The  Elite ended up in first place playing up in the U11 Premier Indoor Division. Seeded 1st they played the second place team Freedom Red and played to a 5-5 tie. Having won the league game against the Freedom, the  Elite ended up Champions of the 2005 Indoor U11 Premier season with a record of 6-0-1.

March 19&20th: Jefferson Cup: The  Elite will play in the Championship Division of the Jefferson Cup. Playing one of the top teams in Ea. Pa. Lower Merion, the  Elite came away with a hard fought battle, a 3-0 win. Next was the SAC team from Columbia Maryland.  SAC probably had no more than two shots the whole game compared to the 20 shots by the  Elite but one of the two floated over the goalie for a 1-0 victory for SAC. The third game was against a very well coached NJ team who excelled in passing but struggled getting by the  Elite defense. The  Elite again easily had 15 - 20 shots but could not score and the game ended up 0-0. It was a tremendous tournament for the  Elite, high-level quality competition to prepare for the upcoming ODSL Division I season.

March 12&13th: The  Elite will play in the  Soccer Club 2005 Icebreaker Tournament. Tournament Canceled!!

March 5&6th: The  Elite will play in the Baltimore March Madness Tournament.  Tournament Canceled!!

Dec 2004: The  Elite girls traveled to GMU to play in Annual Indoor Tournament for girls. The  Elite played up in the U11 division against WAGS teams. The  Elite won the first 3 games by 1-0, 2-0, 1-0. In the semi-final the score was tied 1-1 so they went to a sudden-death overtime and every two minutes a player was removed from the field. After removing three players and playing 3v3 and still tied they moved to a 3-kick PK shootout.  Elite lost 2-1 after 4 PKs. Still a great job by the girls playing against older girls.

Dec 2004: The  Elite girls just finished Winter Indoor Session at the Dulles Sportsplex with a record 8 - 0.  The girls were proud of their defense holding opponents to 7 goals after 8 games. One Hundred & twenty-six (126) boys and girls teams played Indoor in Session one and the  Elite were the only team to keep goals against in single digits.  Elite are proud of that accomplishment.  Elite believe in old adage "offense wins games, defense wins championships".
